Cortaro-Marana Irrigation District

Cortaro-Marana Irrigation District (CMID) serves the agricultural irrigation needs of the Marana, Avra Valley and Cortaro communities. The District owns 65 miles of pipelines and canals, providing irrigated water to more than 12,000 acres of farmland. The District also offers water storage and non-potable service within its service area.

CMID is managed by is agent, the Cortaro Water Users' Association (CWUA). CWUA is a non-profit Arizona corporation with a public purpose providing irrigation water to landowners within the District boundaries, which covers Cortaro Farms and Marana farmlands. Agricultural land utilizes approximately 98% of the water supplied by CMID/CWUA. All landowners within the District are subject to assessment.

The remaining 2% of water use is comprised of environmental waters, golf course irrigation, park irrigation and construction water
